Our design team were engaged to undertake the interior design to this renovation of a beautiful Queenslander located in inner city Red Hill, Brisbane.

Set within the leafy hills of Red Hill, this reimagined Queenslander balances classic character with a calm, contemporary interior palette. Our design intent was to honour the home’s original charm while introducing a refined modern aesthetic that supports everyday living. The result is a warm, layered interior that feels both familiar and fresh.

Material selection played a central role in shaping the experience of the home. We chose natural, tactile finishes—timber, stone, soft matte surfaces—to create a sense of grounded comfort and longevity. The timber flooring and detailed joinery reference the home’s heritage bones, while the modern profiles and precise craftsmanship bring a clean, understated sophistication. Light-coloured walls and soft neutral tones form a calm backdrop, allowing the home’s original architectural lines to shine without competing for attention.

In the kitchen and living spaces, texture and tone were carefully balanced to achieve a relaxed but elevated feel. Stone benchtops with subtle veining add depth without overpowering the space, while brushed metal fixtures introduce a contemporary edge.

Throughout the interiors, we focused on creating spaces that feel effortless, open and welcoming. The layout improvements support modern patterns of living, offering better connection between indoor and outdoor areas while maintaining the intimate scale typical of a Queenslander.
